Xpeng Delivery Surges 570% in February, Fueled by Smart Driving-Powered P7+
TMTPOST -- Xpeng Inc. accelerated delivery and continued to outpace Chinese electric vehicle (EV) peers that have released their deliveries recently.

Xpeng said it delivered 30,453 EVs in February, representing a 570% year-over-year (YoY) increase compared with a 268% rise a month earlier. The Guangzhou-based company has shipped more than 30,000-unit for four months in a row, and its deliveries for the first two months of this year surged 375% YoY to 60,803 vehicles. The delivery for February edged up merely 0.3%, or 103 units, from the previous month, though was still 17%, or 6,242 units, less than the latest record volume recorded in December, its fourth straight monthly record.
Xpeng’s deliveries further benefited from strong sales of two new models. The company said monthly delivery of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Xpeng Mona M03, a Tesla Model 3 rival, has kept exceeding 15,000 units for the third consecutive month, and cumulative deliveries Xpeng P7+, the world’s first vehicle to feature built-in AI-powered advanced Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across the entire lineup, exceeded 30,000 units in just three months since launch. Xpeng uncovered the user profile of XPENG P7+, pointing to smart driving being one of the top reasons consumers buy the P7+.
Xpeng's monthly active user penetration rate in urban driving reached 86% in February. Xpeng's total mileage of smart driving and total time by smart driving during the Spring Festival travel season increased 98.2% and 103.5% YoY, respectively, according to the Spring Festival smart driving usage report released by the company . At the same time, the smart driving user penetration reached 93.3% and the longest smart driving mileage on a single vehicle hit 12,300 kilometers. The company aims to commence development and testing of its Turing AI Smart Driving system for international markets.
Many other Chinese EV manufacturers reported faster delivery pace than January, the off-season for the auto market. That month saw a transition from the national subsidies program last year to a renewed consumer goods trade-in program to stimulate domestic demand and bolster economy this year.
BYD Co. Ltd sold 322,846 new energy vehicles (NEVs), including electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, cementing its leadership in China’s EV sector. The sales gained 164% YoY and 7.4% month-over-month following a 49.2% YoY increase and 41.6% MoM drop for January. BYD in December broke its sales record for the seventh consecutive month with a delivery of 514,809 NEVs.
Li Auto Inc. the former best seller among emerging home-grown Chinese EV startups that was overtaken by Xpeng in January, shipped 26,263 EVs in February. That represented a 29.7% YoY increase, reversing its surprising YoY drop of nearly 4% in the beginning of the year. The downward trend of delivery slowed as February saw a 12.2% MoM decline after a 48.8% MoM decrease in January.
Li Auto rolled out OTA update version 7.1 in February, further enhancing the capabilities of its autonomous driving and smart space systems. The newly upgraded Li AD Max V13 now delivers smoother performance when navigating complex road conditions, while new features, such as Sentry Mode High-Risk Video Remote Preview and Front Passenger Exit Alert, provide a more reassuring user experience.
Nio Inc., delivery in February rose 62.2% YoY to 13,192 vehicles, compared with a 37.9% increase a month ago. The delivery shed 671 units, or 4.8%, MoM, after it recorded a 55% MoM decrease in January. With a delivery of 31,138 vehicles in December, Nio for the first time delivered more than 30,000 EVs in a month and recorded a 72.9% YoY increase and a MoM increase of 51.3%. The deliveries in February consisted of 9,143 vehicles from Nio’s premium smart EV brand NIO, and 4,049 vehicles from its family-oriented smart electric vehicle brand ONVO. Deliveries of the Nio brand climbed 15% MoM and the later brand down 31.5%.
Deliveries of Zhejiang Leapmotor Technologies Ltd., maintained three-digit yearly growth in February. It delivered 25,287 units with a 285% YoY increase, and eked out a merely 0.46% MoM increase. Leapmotor posted a 105% YoY increase and a 40.8% MoM decline in delivery in January. As of December, the Stellantis NV's Chinese partner extended its record-breaking streak from June.
